Tom’s Mum’s House #4 Nightstone is awash with bodies and destruction.

So the orcs were killed and Nightstone FINALLY is free from immediate threats. Some forest elves of the Ardeep forest, led by Rond Arrowhome, infiltrated the beleaguered town in the night. Taruk followed them and came upon a furious fight in the town square. Arrows flew and great axes swung. The Orchish leader, Gurrash, was killed by a sneaksy crossbow bolt. Nogra, the shaman of the band, attempted to negotiate passage out of town by holding Xolkin, the Zhentarim agent, hostage. Cassius was near a peaceful exit for these orcs, despite a clear intent to murder by the forest elves. However, Taruk had thoughts of his own. He loosed an arrow at the hostage taker; it struck the hostage in the head and pinned him beneath the Nightstone Inn signage.

The aftermath was simple, rest was had, magical swords were comically defeated and the party made their way after the villagers. Taruk, who fancies himself a tracker and hunter, lost the trail and spent three hours of the parties time trekking around in the a downpour. When the entrance to this cave was finally located, subtlety wasn’t on anyone’s mind. Cassius stepped into the cave mouth and proclaimed,

“Free the villagers now, they will come with us on pain of your deaths!”

It didn’t work quite to plan. A mud bathing ogre and various goblin archers with high ground advantage had other ideas. The recently strengthened party once again found a challenge on their hands. Taruk loosed arrows, Cassius heaved his mighty pike and Lewis pew pew’d bolts from the shadows. It was bloody and barely victorious (and they have only just set foot in the door).

We left our heroes in that dark dripping cave with pinched face, female goblin, who had these words for them,

“Ah, adventurers, i think we have something interesting to discuss.”

Session highlights

  • Taruk scored a critical hit on his sharpshooter roll, the orc hostage taker was instantly killed. Impressive.
  • Lewis offered to perform the last rights for Lady Nandar. This was also an opportunity for him to steal a rather expensive wedding ring ‘for the church’.
  • Cassius and his continued attempts to find a peaceful solution. I love it. Also the image of Cassius standing atop dead ogre mates in the dripping caves stands with me.
